Protection Island National Wildlife Refuge is one of the last safe havens for burrow-nesting seabirds in the Salish Sea, especially the rhinoceros auklet. Once heavily impacted by farming, grazing, and military use, the island was finally protected in 1982. Today, it is alive with wildlife as it continues to recover and thrive.

Through engaging stories, vivid photos, and scientific insight, you’ll discover its rich history and what the future may hold. This program offers a rare opportunity to learn about a place few people ever get to see firsthand!

Come hear from Amos Almy, the Visitor Services Manager for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s Refuge Management Program.

This presentation is in partnership with the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s Refuge Management Program.
