OPAS Backyard Birding: Preparing the Winter Backyard Habitat
Presenter: Christie Lassen, Wild Birds Unlimited
Saturday, October 3, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. | Dungeness River Nature Center
Free to attend, $5 donation suggested
Throughout the year, more than 400 bird species can be seen on the north Olympic Peninsula, and many remain through winter. By providing food, water, and shelter, we can support a wide variety of backyard visitors during the colder months.
Christie Lassen returns to Backyard Birding with a seminar on the winter needs of Anna’s Hummingbirds and other year‑round Pacific Northwest species. She’ll showcase the latest feeders and specialized foods from Wild Birds Unlimited, explain how they complement natural habitat, and offer tips for attracting desired birds while discouraging mammals. Demonstration items will be available for purchase after the program, so plan to stay a bit past noon.
