Come connect with nature and be inspired to share your experience in verse.
Materials: bring a small notebook or journal and pen or pencil. Wear layers. The workshop will take place indoors and outdoors.
Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry using a specific number of syllables—5,7,5. The aim of Haiku is to communicate to the reader a deep thought in just three lines and seventeen syllables. Haikus are written in praise of nature and the seasons. The objective is to paint a natural scenery along with its hidden meaning in the mind of the reader. Cinquain poetry, created by American poet Adelaide Crapsey about 100 years ago is similar to Haiku, but is five lines long. Using descriptive words, it tells a story.
This program counts as “Nature as Inspiration” for your Nature Wellness Challenge stamp card.
