Number of participants: 15 — Registration required.

Join field trip leaders, Kathy McCoy and Ben Hannah for a walk on the dike along the river. This area offers excellent access into marsh and riparian habitat with eBird hotspots at this location that include the Dungeness River Dike Trail, Lower Dungeness River (Creamery) Trail, and the Dungeness–Towne Road Marsh. You should encounter many resident regulars—Great Blue Herons, Mallards, Northern Harriers, Red‑tailed Hawks, Bald Eagles, and chickadees—and Kathy will be keeping an eye out for rails, Soras, snipes, and wrens, some of her favorite marsh dwellers. Birding is scheduled until 11:30, though the walk may wrap up earlier depending on what birds are spotted and how captivated we are by what we find.
The trail is generally good, no steep sections, though it can be muddy in places.
