We’re Hiring an Education Coordinator!
The Education Coordinator plays a pivotal role in bringing our River Center programs to life! This dynamic position requires a balance of strong organizational skills for behind-the-scenes logistics and a passion for hands-on teaching in the field.
During the school year, you will coordinate and lead engaging youth education programs. As summer approaches, your focus will shift to overseeing our vibrant public programs and camps. Beyond direct instruction, you’ll also be instrumental in supporting community events, adult education, outreach, and managing our social media presence, ensuring our educational spaces are always welcoming and well-maintained.
The Coordinator will work closely with the Education Manager and other River Center staff and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Instruction:

Lead and deliver curriculum-based field trips and educational programs for all ages, focusing on natural and cultural history.

Coordinate school group programs, including communication with staff and scheduling field trips.

Manage group dynamics to foster positive and effective learning experiences.

Support and mentor our dedicated volunteer instructors.

Represent the River Center at various outreach events, both on and off-site.
Program Development & Administration:

Develop compelling educational content for youth, adult, and family programs.

Collaborate closely with the Education Manager on curriculum design and development.

Track program participation and outcomes to measure impact.

Maintain and manage inventory of educational materials and supplies.

Assist in maintaining our interpretive displays, including the Exhibit Room and outdoor signage.
General Support & Outreach:

Actively contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors and participants.

Lead and support risk management practices during all programs and events.
-
Assist with marketing, communications, and registration for programs, including collaborating on content for newsletters, the website, and social media.

Help maintain a clean and organized office and education space.

Provide support for event, class, camp, and rental preparation.

Occasionally staff the Exhibit Room and Front desk.

Adhere to all Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe policies and procedures.
What We’re Looking For:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, science, education, or a related field—or equivalent experience.

A minimum of two (2) years of hands-on, inquiry-based environmental education experience.

Demonstrated experience working effectively with both children and adults in educational or camp settings.

Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle diverse responsibilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Google Drive.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to connect with diverse backgrounds, ages, and experiences.

A customer service mindset and a collaborative spirit.

Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Comfortable living and working in a small, rural community.

Valid driver’s license.
-
Must pass a background check.

First Aid/CPR and WFA or WFR certification (or willingness to complete upon hire).
