Summer Stewardship Series
Dungeness River Audubon Center will be hosting a virtual “Summer Stewardship Series.” This series will be focused on exploring ways participants can take positive actions around their homes and in their lives to help protect, enhance and preserve our watersheds.
Our first theme is about eating locally grown food!
Stewardship over Profit: How SisterLand became a farm that gives more than it takes.
Jenson, the farm manager and co-owner of SisterLand Farms in Port Angeles, WA, will discuss how their farm protects area tributaries, native populations of wildlife, soil ecosystems, and even its workers. Learn about how such a radical departure from industrial farming can not only rebuild biodiverse communities, but offer an economically sustainable alternative to an all-too-often deadly business.

The second theme will be about conserving energy at home!
HOME ENERGY USE AND HOW TO MANAGE YOUR ENERGY COST
In this presentation you will learn about how we use energy in our home. We’ll go over basic energy concepts, like how energy flows in your house, and how we can use that understanding to better manage our home’s energy use and to illuminate unnecessary waste. By the end of this session you should be able to go home and do your own quick energy audit as well as you’ll walk away with several no– or low-cost ideas that’ll help you keep your electrical bills low all year long.
Presenter MATTIAS JÄRVEGREN, Clallam County PUD Utility Services Supervisor, has been involved in Clallam PUD’s residential, commercial and industrial energy efficiency efforts for the past 15 years and has been involved with almost 1,500 residential and 625 commercial energy efficiency projects, saving Clallam County PUD customers over $1,500,000 in annual electrical bills.
