Rainshadow Hall, Dungeness River Nature Center

Our first potluck dinner meeting since COVID will be followed by the annual election of officers and the presentation of awards recognizing individuals in our community and within OPAS whose outstanding work has protected birds and their habitats.

Our featured speaker is Michael Glore, who became Executive Director of the Dungeness River Nature Center last October. Many OPAS members have already worked with him during his first seven months in the role, following a 20‑year career with the National Park Service.

He brings a rich depth of experience in visitor services, education, and interpretation—work centered on helping people connect personally with the natural and cultural resources of the places they care about. Though he has long admired birds, he describes himself as a birder still in the making.

He will share his vision for the Center’s future, his appreciation for OPAS’s partnership in its operation, and how we can continue contributing to its growth and success. He might even bring his guitar to serenade us at our last membership meeting until September. Please join us.

Here are a few potluck “logistics” to make the event run smoothly. You are encouraged to:

  • Bring your own picnic or dinnerware, utensils, and napkins;

  • Bring your own non-alcoholic beverages;

  • Bring dishes served at room temperature;

  • Or alternatively, bring foods served hot in electric-powered crock pots or chafing dishes.

Please RSVP to tell us the number in your party attending in person at [email protected]. Questions? Please send them to [email protected].

Got a photo (or more) taken in the past year or so capturing a memorable experience of people birding, caring for birds, teaching about birds, . . . in general, photos of people (of any age) loving birds! Send your jpegs to [email protected]. We will make the images part of a revolving slide show playing during the potluck. Remote attendees via Zoom can enjoy the slideshow as well!

Your gift supports River Center Education and Railroad Bridge Park.
