If you’re dreading the thought of asking for pledges, just follow these six easy steps to successful fund raising.
Step 1. Believe in the objective. By participating in Spring Fling, you can increase your personal fitness and have fun, while raising funds for a worthy cause: to support educational programs of the Dungeness River Audubon Center and to maintain Railroad Bridge Park.
Step 2. Identify the friends, family members, neighbors, and others you know, who would be most likely to want to support you and/or this cause. Consider people you know who enjoy the River Center, Railroad Bridge Park, nature, the Olympic Discovery Trail, the activity you plan to do – you get the idea.
Step 3. Review our pledge hints and use or adapt the ones that appeal to you to. The hints will help you maximize your pledges. Remember that to qualify for awards and prizes, participants above age 16 must either raise or donate at least $50. Participants age16 or younger, must raise or donate at least $1.00 for each year of age. We hope that you’ll raise much more than your minimum, and you may want to set a goal.
Step 4. Start asking people for their support. Whether you're asking people face-to-face, by phone, or mail, the important thing is to get started. You can use our sample pledge ask letter (PDF or editable MS Word), or prepare your own to send by e-mail or mail.
